Frequently asked about kitchen renovation
When are the kitchen measurements taken?
During the free survey. Cabinet production depends on millimetre-accurate measurements, so this step cannot be handled over the phone. The positions of the plumbing and electrical points are discussed in the same visit.
What happens to the old units and worktop?
Removal and disposal are ours. If any units are still usable we can set them aside, otherwise they go with the rest of the waste. Because kitchens are in occupied homes, dust control and protection of common areas are planned for the strip-out day.
Should appliances be chosen before the cabinets?
Yes. The dimensions of a built-in oven, hob and extractor determine the cabinet module, and an appliance chosen later may not fit. The electrical and gas outlet positions follow the same plan, so we ask you to settle the appliance choice before production starts.
How is the worktop height decided?
By the height of whoever uses the kitchen most. The standard height does not suit everyone and the wrong height causes back strain during long tasks. We also plan the working distance between the hob and the sink, because that is where most of the movement happens.
What is the most common mistake in a kitchen renovation?
Ordering cabinets before the measurements are taken or before the appliances are known. The second most common is leaving the pipework under the sink as it is, because once the units are fitted that area becomes hard to reach.
How long does a kitchen renovation usually take?
For a standard kitchen it typically takes 10 to 15 days from strip-out to handover. The cabinetry lead time sets the pace, while the units are in production, plumbing, flooring and wall work run in parallel. We give you a firm timeline after the survey.
Can I keep my existing appliances in the new kitchen?
Of course. We take their measurements and design the new cabinet layout around them. We apply the same approach for built-in appliances.
What material do you recommend for the countertop?
It depends on your budget and how heavily the kitchen is used. Granite is durable and long-lasting, while composite surfaces resist stains and scratches better. We compare the options that fit your needs during the survey.
Can we still cook during the kitchen renovation?
The kitchen is out of use for a few days during installation. We clarify this timeframe upfront so you can plan around it.
Are the cabinets custom-made to size?
Yes, every cabinet is custom-built to your kitchen's actual measurements. No gaps or cramped fit like you'd get with standard off-the-shelf units.
