What you see in a garden is the planting. How many years it lasts is decided by the drainage, soil preparation and irrigation line underneath. Get that order wrong and the garden is rebuilt within a few seasons.

Survey & Plan
We measure the garden on site and talk through how many hours of sun it gets, what the soil is like and how you want to use the space, then draw the layout plan.
Groundwork
On full installations, levelling, drainage and irrigation lines happen at this stage. It is the part nobody sees and the part that decides how long the garden lasts, so it is finished before any planting.
Planting & Handover
Turf goes down, plants are set, walkways and lighting are completed. At handover we go through the irrigation schedule and how to look after the garden through its first season.

Frequently asked about landscaping
Why does soil preparation matter so much?
However good the plants or the turf are, they will not establish in unsuitable soil. Compacted ground does not drain and roots cannot develop. The soil is loosened before the work and improved where necessary. When this stage is skipped the problem shows up in the first summer.
Does the irrigation system suffer in winter?
Water left in the lines can damage pipes and heads when it freezes. That is why a drain point is built in and the system should be emptied before winter. We explain this at handover.
What can be done with a sloping garden?
A slope affects both water run-off and whether the soil stays in place. Terracing, retaining work and the right planting can turn a slope into an advantage. Drainage is planned from the outset so that soil is not washed downhill in heavy rain.
Is there an alternative to turf?
There is. Gravel, bark and ground-cover planting need far less water and maintenance. If the garden is going to be used by children turf still makes sense. We ask how you intend to use the space and suggest accordingly.
What is the most common mistake in landscaping?
Laying turf or planting straight onto unprepared soil. The second is leaving the irrigation layout until later, because running the lines after the surfaces are down means digging them up again.
When is the best season to lay turf?
Spring and autumn are the easiest windows, as roots establish faster in those months. In the Aegean climate summer laying is possible too, but the watering routine has to be followed far more closely. We set the timing together after the survey.
Should I choose roll turf or seed?
Roll turf gives you a green garden the day it is laid and protects against erosion immediately, at a higher cost. Seed is more economical but takes a season to fill in and needs weed control in the early months. We recommend based on how soon you need to use the garden. For shaded areas, spots that see heavy use or gardens where watering is limited, artificial turf is another option and we lay that too.
Do I really need automatic irrigation?
In a small garden, watering by hand can be enough. As the lawn area grows, watering evenly and regularly by hand becomes very hard. An automatic system keeps water use under control and stops the lawn drying out in patches. The irrigation line is laid before the turf goes down.
How long does a landscaping project take?
A small garden usually takes 3 to 7 days. A mid-sized villa garden, groundwork included, runs 7 to 20 days. The timeline depends on the size of the area, whether drainage is needed and how much extra work such as stone walkways is involved. We give a firm figure after the survey.
