What We Watch For
The details that decide the quality
Thermally broken profiles differ from standard ones
Standard aluminium conducts heat well, which means condensation on the profile in winter and heat loss through it. Thermally broken profiles carry an insulating barrier inside them, and in a heated space the difference is noticeable.
Wide openings need the load worked out
On shopfronts and large glazed areas the profile section is chosen for the weight of the glass and the wind load. Slimming the section down for looks leads to sagging and leaks later on.
Shopfronts are planned around trading hours
When a shopfront is replaced, the time the business stays closed matters. We plan removal and installation for the same day and work outside trading hours where that helps.

Frequently asked about aluminium joinery
Where is aluminium the better choice?
Where slim frames and wide openings are needed, so shopfronts, facades and large glazed partitions. Durability also counts at commercial entrances. For domestic windows uPVC is more common where insulation leads.
Is thermally broken aluminium available?
Yes. These systems carry a barrier within the profile that interrupts the thermal bridge and reduce heat transfer compared with standard aluminium. They are used where the elevation encloses a heated space.
What glass is used in a shopfront?
Toughened glass, for safety. The thickness follows the width and height of the opening. At ground floor level the risk of impact is higher, which makes this more important.
Are colour options available?
Yes, through powder coating, and timber-effect finishes are also used. The choice usually follows the overall look of the elevation, since the shopfront is the first thing a customer sees.
How long does aluminium joinery take?
Production after measuring is typically 10 to 15 days, longer if thermally broken profiles or a special colour are chosen. Fitting takes 1 to 2 days in a standard flat, and most often a single day for one shopfront or a wide sliding system.
Which is better, aluminium or uPVC?
It depends on the use. For wide openings, shopfronts and large sliding systems aluminium has the advantage. Slimmer profiles, more glass and greater durability. For a domestic window uPVC usually offers the better balance of insulation and cost. Thermally broken aluminium profiles close much of that gap.
Can you renew my existing shopfront?
Yes. We remove the existing system and install new joinery in its place. Measurements are taken on site, and once production is complete the installation is done in one go, so the shop is closed for as little time as possible.
Can aluminium joinery be painted?
Aluminium profiles are generally produced with a factory-applied colour, chosen at the production stage. Painting after installation does not match the durability of a factory finish, so we suggest settling the colour at the start.
