Steel Security Door Installation
A steel door provides security along with sound and thermal insulation at the entrance to a flat. Security comes from how firmly the frame is fixed into the wall as much as from the door leaf itself. Poor installation weakens even a good door. We supply and fit steel doors as part of a full renovation. We do not offer standalone door installation.

What We Watch For
The details that decide the quality
Fixing the frame is what counts
However strong the leaf is, the system stays weak if the frame is not fixed to the wall at enough points and in the right places. This unseen part of the installation is what gives the door its actual security value.
Size and opening direction are settled first
Which way the door opens affects how the hallway and entrance work day to day. We settle this together before the door goes into production, because changing it afterwards means a new door.
Replacement includes repair around the frame
Removing an old door damages the plaster around the frame. Making that good is part of the installation, and we write it separately into the quotation so nothing comes as a surprise.

Frequently asked about steel security doors
How is the door measured?
The frame is measured on site. Even where the opening looks standard, wall thickness and frame depth vary between buildings. The swing direction is decided in the same visit.
Does a steel door help with sound and heat?
The infill within the leaf and the seals around the frame determine that. Noise and smells from the stairwell pass through the gap between the leaf and the frame, so sealing around the frame at installation matters as much as the door itself.
Will the flat be left open during replacement?
No. Removal and installation happen on the same day. Making good around the frame is part of the work and disposal of the old door is ours.
What is the most common mistake?
Leaving the frame out of square. The door may work on day one, but an out-of-square frame starts to bind and stops closing fully over time.
How long does installing a steel door take?
Producing or sourcing the door usually takes 7 to 15 days depending on the model. Installation is then completed in a single working day. Removal, fixing the frame, hanging the leaf, adjusting the lock and making good. As we do not take this on as a standalone job, the timing is planned around the wider renovation it belongs to.
My door is fine but the lock is old. Can only the lock be changed?
Yes. Replacing the lock and cylinder costs far less than a new door and noticeably improves security. Where the leaf and frame are sound, that is often the sensible answer.
Do you also fit communal entrance doors?
We do. Communal doors are renewed by a decision of the building management, so we move to measuring and quoting once that decision has been taken.
