Shower Enclosure Installation
A shower enclosure separates the showering area from the rest of the bathroom with glass or panels. Whether the job succeeds shows in the sealing rather than in the glass. A badly fitted enclosure leaks onto the bathroom floor and ruins the grout over time.
Scope
What we do
We handle the work below from one place. Surveys and quotations are free in Izmir Kemalpasa and the surrounding area. For larger projects we work across all of Izmir.
- Installation of standard-size shower enclosures
- Made-to-measure systems for corner, compact and recessed layouts
- Removal of the old enclosure and fitting of the new one
- Shower tray installation and waste connection
- Level-access (tray-free) shower areas
- Sealing work, silicone and gasket application
- Door adjustment, hinge and roller replacement
What We Watch For
The details that decide the quality
Sealing is the real job
However good the glass is, water escapes if the silicone and gaskets are not applied properly. That leak spoils the grout first and the floor beneath it later. By the time it is noticed, putting it right means taking the enclosure apart.
A level-access shower needs the right floor fall
With no tray edge to hold the water back, only the fall of the floor sends it to the drain. Get the fall wrong and water spreads across the bathroom. This is why a tray-free shower has to be planned while the floor is being built.
Replacements need the measurements checked
Taking out an old enclosure and dropping in a standard-size unit is not always possible, because walls are not always truly square. Where they are not, a made-to-measure unit is needed, and we say so plainly at the survey.
FAQ
Frequently asked about shower enclosure installation
What glass thickness is used?
Commonly 6 to 8 mm toughened glass, with 8 mm preferred on wide panels because thinner glass flexes. Toughened glass breaks into small pieces rather than sharp shards, which matters in a wet room.
Is replacing a bath with a shower complicated?
Removing the bath exposes the floor and the drain beneath it. The fall has to be reset so water reaches the drain, and the waterproofing under a bath is often incomplete. So the job is more than fitting an enclosure.
Sliding or hinged door?
In a tight bathroom a sliding door wins, because a hinged door needs clear space in front of it. In larger rooms a hinged door gives a more open feel. The swing is planned around the basin and WC positions.
How do I reduce limescale marks?
A protective coating on the glass makes water less likely to cling. Beyond that, wiping the glass after use remains the most effective method. Marks appear faster in hard water areas.
How long does fitting a shower enclosure take?
A standard, off-the-shelf size is stripped out and fitted the same day. For made-to-measure enclosures, production runs 7 to 10 days after measuring and fitting again takes a day. If a tray or floor work is involved, allow another day for the silicone and grout to cure.
Can I have just the enclosure replaced?
Yes. There is no need to renew the whole bathroom to change the enclosure. We do check one thing first. If the existing floor fall and waste are sound, replacement alone is fine. If they are not, a new enclosure will not solve the underlying problem.
Can you convert my bathtub into a shower?
We can, and it is one of the most common bathroom changes we carry out. The tub comes out, the plumbing and waste are reset for the new layout, and the floor waterproofing and fall are renewed. It is a more involved job than a straight installation.
What happens if the enclosure glass breaks?
Toughened glass breaks into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards, which is a safety feature. A broken panel can be replaced on its own. The whole enclosure does not have to go.
